THE ROAD TO THE GAMES STARTS TOMORROW
The CrossFit Open came to an end yesterday and what an amazing success it has been for CrossFit RXD. Our community has been strengthened and each athlete who participated learned something about themselves. They learned they are stronger than they thought they were. They learned what it really feels like to push themselves to their maximum capacity. They were motivated to set future goals and to train to achieve those goals. We learned that we have the support of a strong and amazing community of members and friends, who cheered us on every week.
BUT THIS IS NOT THE END…….IT IS ONLY THE BEGINNING.
Our team and athletes performed so well in the OPEN that we can continue to cheer on Team RXD at the Southern California Regionals and at the Home Depot Center for THE CROSSFIT GAMES.
TEAM RXD: 21st in Southern California. The roster for our team will be decided in the next week and we will announce that ASAP.
Ashlee Hegner: 30th in Southern California and going on to compete individually in the SO CAL REGIONAL.
Melisa Nelson: 38th in Southern California. Melisa has chosen to compete as part of our team.
Derek Kennedy: Finished just 3 spots out side of qualification, 51st in Southern California. We are so very proud of you DK.
GOING TO THE GAMES:
Bryan Wadkins: Bryan finished 10th in the WORLD in the 40-44 year old Masters Division and has qualified to advance directly to The CrossFit Games at the Home Depot Center. This is the pinical of our sport, an athlete could not strive for anything higher.
“I am so honored to have qualifed to go to the games. In my wildest imagination, I never thought that this could have been possible. I thank God everyday for my health and fitness and that he has blessed me and surrounded me with amazing people.
Thank you to my wife and best friend, Nyra. You are truly one of a kind and you make my life so wonderful. Thank you for all the support and encouragement, oh yeah and for introducing me to CrossFit. Did I mention I’ll be living at the gym for the next three months?
Thanks to Andrew, my boy, for your never ending love and always bringing a smile to my face no matter how hard of a day I had.
Thanks to Derek for being an amazing training partner. I could not be where I am without you. Who would have thought a 20 year old and 40 year old would be such amazing training partners. I am so excited to see you become the amazing man you will soon be. You have a bright future ahead of you. Not just in CF, but in life.
Thanks to all the amazing RXD staff, my Renegade Barbell Crew and everyone at RXD. Your encouragement, screams, cheers and yells, pushed me and carried me for those few more reps I needed each and every week.
God bless you all. See you at the Home Depot Center in July”
